Never Coming Home is an extraordinarily accomplished debut novel with that old-fashioned virtue of being well-written into the bargain, and if you’re like me have never dipped a toe in the waters of romantic thrillers before, this would be an excellent place to start.

chocheart four04I could NOT put this book down.  Sometimes I read a book that entertains me for hours and leaves me remembering what great value for money a book can be.  That many hours at a concert or an adventure park would cost £50.  Not going to spoil the story.    Read the book.

LongandshortIf, like me, you’re a fan of romantic suspense and had trouble finding a good one lately, I can highly recommend Never Coming Home. Sometimes it’s hard finding one with the right balance of romance and mystery but this story hits the mark there too.
...I’ll be looking out for more of the author’s books. I hope her next one is also a romantic suspense because she obviously has a good sense of what readers love about this sub-genre.
If you love romance, suspense and looking for a good novel to curl up with this fall, Never Coming Home is one you’ll want to add to your to read list.

RTBkReviewsLogo2Wareham hits an impressive high in this dramatic debut that is, at once, a nerve-wracking thrill ride filled with deception, base emotion and death and a tempestuous love story. Each character is carefully wrought to best suit the twists and turns of the meticulously laid-out plot. 41/2 stars

Do you know that feeling when even though you have to go to school or work in the morning, you still stay up until 2 a.m in order to finish a book? Now, that’s what happens when you find something fantastic. And that’s how it was with Never Coming Home. When I picked it up, I expected to read a romance or maybe a family drama. But boy, was I wrong. What I thought would be a family saga with a bit of suspense and with some romance on top turned out to be a gripping romantic thriller. It just blew me away.
Evonne Wareham’s masterpiece was thoroughly gripping and full of suspense from the very first page

bookbagThe author has created a couple of interesting characters in Kaz and Devlin and has even managed to inject the hint of romance too. He has a dark, mysterious past and she has had a troubled childhood spent trying to live up to the expectations of her creative artist father. Both these stories make an interesting backdrop to the tension and the threat of danger as their search takes them across Europe.
Overall, this is a good first novel and one that will keep the reader guessing to the very last pages.

Although this book is classed as romantic suspense, I found it a most intriguing mystery.  It moves at a cracking pace with constant surprises. The story twists and turns.  But it is also a love story as two people with initially no current interest in embarking on a relationship find in each other an overwhelming attraction. Kaz vulnerable and still grieving for her dead daughter, and Devlin a man with a dangerous past.  If you like a good mystery that keeps you on the edge of your chair, with a strong love element, this has both in spades.  Highly recommended.

I lost myself totally in this world.¬  I was there in Kaz‚Ä™ home in London, leant on the office doorframe in Chicago, walked with Kaz and Dev in the deserted chateau, tripped over the thick black cable in the derelict building and heard the sirens in the distance.¬  This is one book that is staying on my shelf so that I can experience everything again (and as I said recently to one person, no-one is getting their hands on my copy!)
No surprises at my rating - 4 fairies.

ChicklitclublogoKaz Elmore is trying to come to terms with the death of her daughter Jamie who was killed in a car crash while on holiday with her father in America. Security consultant Devlin witnessed the terrible accident and when he goes to tell Kaz that he held her daughter in her dying moments he discovers that maybe it wasn't Jamie who died in the crash after all. With the slightest glimmer of hope that Jamie could be alive, Kaz hires Devlin to help her investigate the accident. They soon discover secrets from Devlin's less-than-perfect past and uncover a dangerous web of secrets as they hunt for Jamie. This book is a real page-turner, it's got a great storyline that has you hoping from page one that they are going to find Jamie alive. I think if I was rating this on a thriller alone it would get really high marks, but the romance for me came a little too early on and detracted from the great story. Having said that I'd definitely recommend it as it keeps on your toes until the very last page.

Never Coming Home is a romance novel with a strong hero and heroine as you might expect from publishers Choc Lit, but it is also much more; it is an intriguing and intricate mystery story too - a contemporary romantic thriller.
The events are very dramatic at times, and take us from the US to London, Italy and Wales. It's difficult to comment further on the mystery elements without giving away any spoilers; suffice it to say that a strength of this novel is how the intrigue builds, discoveries are made and the threads gradually unravel as we start to discover the true extent of the mystery surrounding Jamie's disappearance. At it's heart, this story is about families, and love, and it is a very promising debut novel.

If this would have been just a thriller then perhaps not for me, even if the thrilling part was actually my fav (go figure), but anyway, it also had romance. Big yay
This one is for those who like suspense, thrillers and mysteries, but who also want a bit of romance and softer tones.

I really loved this book. On the ‘rave’ scale it’s right at the top in book Heaven. For me, all the genres that I enjoy reading were wrapped up in one novel; crime, suspense, mystery and romance.
I must admit I was a little concerned that a story involving a missing child, might go to places I was uncomfortable with, but I am pleased to say that none of my fears came to fruition.
...ChocLit have another winner on their hands and this darker taste is a wonderful addition to their catalogue.

...Never Coming Home is entertaining and flirtatious, engaging and exhilarating. It is a chick-lit book but it also has a uniquely dark edginess that makes it stand out from other novels in it’s genre. This book comes with my recommendations, it is perfect for these wintry evenings!

I am always very excited to review a new book from Publishers Choc Lit. Their books are fast paced, gorgeous strong women and to die for Heroes, but this book is completely different to the others I have read. You still get the fantastic page turning story but gone are the polite ladies and romantic adventures. Evonne has written what I can only described as a suspense novel that you really don’t know where it will lead you until the final chapters.
...I love the fact Choc Lit has spread its net and caught a new and exciting Author like Evonne Wareham to add to their already superb collection! A wonderful story and an author that I think shows excellent potential. I certainly will be reading her second novel, Out of Sight, Out of Mind which will be published in 2013.

Anyway, after you’ve read something like that, you want something completely different. So a parcel from @ChocLitUk with a bar of chocolate and a book in was a very positive sign. And I have to say I loved this book. It’s unashamed chick lit, but also has a strong story line and plot as well as well drawn characters  I’m sure the main man, Devlin would turn my head in much the same way he did Kat’s.
...The sex scenes are to be expected. They are well written and really rather enjoyable. The romance isn’t trite, and the characters, particularly the females are strong. ChoclitUK I think specialises in thinking women’s books, rather than formulaic Mills and Boon style romance. It’s rather pleasant to read a book in this line where the women are independent and not desperate to find themselves a bloke.

Book BabeWow. I love Choc Lit. It's a publisher whose books just work for me. Their latest is not disappointing, and just as good as I hoped it would be.
It's a thriller following a man with a shady past as some kind of secret agent and a woman who believes her daughter is dead, that she died in a car crash. The hero, Devlin, was with her daughter when she died...so they think. When he travels to England wanting to tell the girl's mother about her daughter's last moments, sparks fly between them and together, they uncover one twisted horrific fact after another as she, Kaz, tries to find out what really happened to her daughter and who did it.
...Loved this book. Perfect blend of sex, suspense, horror, mystery, passion, and warm-hearted moments. 5 stars.

Whilst this is chick lit (there’s oodles of sexual tension and tanned skin to keep you dreamily staring at the page), it’s a unique type of chick lit.  It isn’t a meandering love story; it’s romance combined with a gripping plot it’s a mystery, romantic thriller. It's quite a solid read, but it's very easy to do so, easy to get wrapped in and very hard to put down (even when the natural break of a new chapter comes along!) - I had to convince myself to put it down in order to sleep!
...Unbelievably this is Evonne Wareham’s debut novel. I cannot wait to see what other delights she comes up with. Never Coming Home has a fantastic plot, written in the perfect way, it’s unputdownable! Equally heartbreaking as heartwarming! Finally, I can't leave without mentioning the cover - it's beautiful and I could stare at it all day.

Never Coming Home by Evonne Wareham is a mix of contemporary romance and thriller, two genre that could be difficult to mix. Evonne has managed to pull this off and has produced a fast paced story with some complex characters. The story takes place in America, London and Italy and has a fair sprinkling of unexpected deaths mixed up with the tensions and complexities of the emerging romance between the two lead characters...
...A top class romantic suspense with engaging characters
